Celebrate World Mission Sunday on November 8, 2026

For more than 25 years, the Diocese of West Texas has been intentionally invested in World Mission ministries.  The diocese as a whole has strong partnerships with the Diocese of Nebbi, Uganda; the Diocese of Honduras; and the Dioceses of South Dakota and Navajoland.  In addition, many congregations, schools, youth groups, clergy and individuals are active in a variety of ministries and locations around the globe.  Through these ministries, the church is built up, our witness is strengthened and the poor are empowered.

In my own experience, I have seen World Mission ministries strengthen the congregations I served through broadening perspectives, increasing faith and deepening generosity and gratitude.  I have also experienced and witnessed deep bonds of Christian love formed as strangers became brothers and sisters in Christ through World Mission ministries.

I am declaring Sunday, November 8 to be World Mission Sunday in the Diocese of West Texas.  I am not asking you to send a financial offering to the diocesan office.  I am inviting you on that Sunday, or another that works for your congregation, to focus some of your time and energy on World Mission ministries.  You might highlight a ministry your congregation is already supporting.  You might invite a youth or adult to speak about their experiences.  You might put photos from mission trips in your bulletin or on your screens.  You might invite someone from the Department of World Missions to be a guest speaker or preacher.  If your congregation is not involved in a World Mission ministry, you might form a small exploratory group to look at future possibilities.

Catherine Markette in the diocesan office can assist you if you need names of possible speakers, ideas, or with other information that may be helpful to you.  I thank the many people in West Texas who are engaged in this ministry, and support it with their time, treasure and prayers.  I thank you for your consideration of this opportunity for your congregation.

Peace
+David
