The vision of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas Camps and Conference Centers is to remain a premier provider of experiences in the outdoors, grounded in the Christian faith and Episcopal tradition, where children, youth, and adults work, play, and grow together as they develop a community of trust, openness, and sharing. Our camp and conference centers include Camp Capers in the Texas Hill Country, Mustang Island Conference along the Texas Gulf Coast, and Duncan Park in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
Camp Capers is a riverside camp and conference center, nestled on 188 acres in the Texas Hill Country, 40 miles northwest of San Antonio on the banks of the Guadalupe River. Camp Capers offers summer camp programming for youth 8 to 18 years of age, and attend sessions within age groups. Sessions activities include kayaking, team building challenges, a high ropes course, crafts, Bible based teaching and devotional times, and more. Through God’s grace, Camp Capers is committed to offering fun, life-changing experiences to children and youth in a safe, Christian community.
Mustang Island Conference Center is a seaside retreat center on 22 acres between Corpus Christi Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The conference center provides a sacred place that offers our guests rest, reflection, and renewal surrounded by God’s coastal creation. Mustang Island Family Camp sessions take place in the summer, beginning on Thursday afternoons and concluding with Sunday Worship and lunch. As a family, enjoy swimming, sand castle building, surfing, arts and crafts, family-style meals, beach games, campfire on the beach, worship, biblically based teaching, and much more. The conference center is also open year-round, and serves all God’s children as a ministry of Christian hospitality to all.
Duncan Park is a mountaintop get away, located 20 miles west of Boulder, Colorado. This alpine jewel captures the rugged beauty of the surrounding mountains and allows for a true respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life, existing completely off-the-grid with solar panels for electricity, no cell phone service, and drinking water drawn from its own well. Duncan Park offers summer camp sessions for junior high, high school, college students and adults, plus several Family Camp sessions, and hosts retreat weekends for churches, family reunions, and other groups.

Camp Sunday is an annual opportunity to celebrate and be thankful for the shared ministry of our congregations and our diocesan camping program, while encouraging others to sign up for a summer camping session. It’s also an opportunity for people to give financially so the monetary obligations of camp never hinder participation. Click here for Camp Sunday information and liturgy resources.
Engage with your world through the lens of Spirit, Mind, and Body. Led by the Rt. Rev. Gary Lillibridge, Catherine Lillibridge, and Mary Katherine Duffy, participants will explore scripture's timeless message, the Enneagram's transformative direction, and the MELT Method's self-applied healing therapy. Spirit: Bishop Gary will discuss how scripture both applies and inspires in today’s complex times. We’ll explore how Christ forms, informs, and transforms our character to better love God, love our neighbor, and love ourselves as we integrate these teachings into our daily lives.
Mind: The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system that describes how people are wired, both positively and negatively. It is a method for understanding why we and others do what we do, why we have conflicts with some people but not others, and how we can become more aware of our blind spots. Mary Katherine is a trained Enneagram workshop leader and will lead us through discussions to help us find and understand our Enneagram number. Understanding ourselves and others more fully will further our development in the areas of emotional intelligence, self-awareness and personal relationships.
Body: We often take our bodies for granted as we go through our daily routines, ignoring twinges and aches. When something flares up, we want to get back to normal ASAP. MELT is an effective, natural pain management solution that compliments other forms of body care and enhances overall wellness. Catherine is a certified MELT instructor and will lead us through short exercises to bring pain relief, deeper sleep and less stress within our body and mind.

Our Summer Campers are challenged to grow spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. Opportunities abound for making new friends, meeting people from across the state, learning new skills, taking responsibility for oneself, others and God's world, and having lots and lots of fun. A day at camp could include outdoor activities, games, high ropes adventure course, team-building initiatives, swimming, kayaking, arts and crafts, singing, worship, Bible study and teachings, and more!
Through God’s grace, Camp Capers is committed to offering fun, life-changing experiences to children and youth in a safe, Christ-centered community. Leadership at camp is provided by program staff, counselors, and trained session staff; each session is guided by deans, chaplains, and teachers who are clergy and lay leaders from the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas.
We seek to provide opportunities for young people to encounter transforming relationships with Jesus Christ. Every camper and staff member is nurtured and cared for as a valued member of the Body of Christ.
Registration cost is $555; scholarships are available.
