Anna Tarver begins January 3rd as Director of Finance.

The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas is pleased to announce Anna Tarver as the new Director of Finance. As Director of Finance, she will be responsible for the financial activities and records of: The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas, The Episcopal Church Corporation in West Texas, The Episcopal Church Foundation in West Texas, Discretionary Funds, as well as the day to day financial tasks for Diocesan departments. Anna will also assist outside auditors with the activities of each Diocesan entity in addition to keeping the Diocesan Treasurer updated on the financial status of the Diocese.

Anna graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Accounting and has worked for the past thirteen years as an auditor, with an emphasis on State and Local taxes. This work involves reviewing business accounting records for compliance in great detail and across many industries. During that time, she has worked on annual financial reviews with a few churches, bringing a similar audit perspective to help strengthen congregation's accounting practices and procedures.

She is married to the Rev. Brian Tarver, rector of St. David's Episcopal Church and School in San Antonio. Together they have three children - Eva, Wendell, and Silas.

Anna shares, "When my family arrived in the Diocese of West Texas more than five years ago, we felt at home. We are grateful to be a part of an uplifting and loving faith community, and I eagerly look forward to using my accounting background to serve the mission of the church and the wider diocesan community."

“I’m delighted that Anna will be joining the diocesan staff in this role," the Rt. Rev. David Reed said, "She brings a mix of skills, education, and work experience that are well-suited to this important position. At heart, her work is to support our diocese’s commitment to be the best possible steward of all the funds entrusted to us for the mission and ministries of the Church in West Texas. Anna will be a significant part of our diocesan team.”

Anna will begin at the Bishop Jones Center on January 3, 2023 and will work closely with the Rt. Rev. David Reed, diocesan staff members, ministry leaders and be a resource for congregations across the diocese.

In addition to this staff transition at the Bishop Jones Center, the Diocese is pleased to announce Heather Hoffman's new role as Senior Accounting Manager, an expansion of her position in the diocesan Finance Office.

Heather joined the diocesan staff in 1998 and through the years has continued to take on more responsibilities within the Finance Department.

Regarding this change, Bishop Reed said, “Heather has been a faithful and hard-working member of the diocesan staff for more than two decades. She is highly valued by her colleagues."

"With Susan’s retirement, we are exploring how we might allocate some responsibilities differently," continued Bishop Reed. "Heather is a part of this restructuring, and her promotion reflects the excellent work she has been doing, as well as the new duties she will take on.”

Information and resources from the diocesan Finance Department are available online, at dwtx.org/resources.
