About

"When you awake in the morning, learn something to inspire you and mediate upon it, then plunge forward full of light with which to illuminate the darkness."‌
~Rabbi Tzvi Freeman

The Commission for Women’s Ministries - C4WM - works to foster active communication, spiritual enrichment, and education among women of the Episcopal Church with Christ as the center.‌ The C4WM lends support to ministries around the diocese in which women are involved. Support comes in the form of financial donations, presence, connection with other women, promotion, or expertise on particular topics. Ministries might be served by an individual or a group.‌

At the national Episcopal Church level, and in some congregations and some dioceses, the women's group is known as the ECW (Episcopal Church Women). In the Diocese of West Texas, the name Commission for Women's Ministries has been adopted as being more descriptive of our mission and ministry.‌

Remember, God has created you to do some definite service; God has committed some work to you that has not been committed to another. You have a mission - continue that good work already begun in you.

PrayeR

The following is a prayer pieced together from a collection of notes from the 2017 Spring Women's Gathering. Contributors were Patty Brooke, Carla Pineda, Joan Anderson, Joan Erikson, the Old Testament, and all the midwives present.

Dear our life-preserving God,
As we gather in your Holy Spirit, open our hearts to your everlasting Love.
Show us how to be midwives to each other in times of need; to shepherd on another through life-changing and life-preserving moments. Let the unknown be born. Let change occur. Give us discernment as women to practice the art of telling others when to push, breathe, rest, or, when needed, the art of resistance, of strategic waiting, and even the art of arriving too late to carry out the King’s edict. Help us hold the “empty space” for each other that always accompanies change. As mothers, daughters, and sisters, fill that space with your living mercy and healing power in our friendships and relationships. Gracious God, bless this food and song as we gather in your loving arms and know that we are grateful to those who prepare these meals and those who guide us in joyful singing. Let us go live your Grace as midwives to your glorious rebirth and renewal.
In God’s name we pray. Amen.
