Hispanic Heritage Month
Welcome to Hispanic Heritage Month, a month-long celebration of Hispanic and Latino history and culture held annually from September 15 to October 15. This month offers an opportunity to highlight the unique voices and experiences of Hispanic/Latino Americans and celebrate their history and achievements within our diocese.
The Latino presence in Texas dates back to the 1600s when Texas was a part of both Spanish and Mexican territories before declaring its independence in 1836.

The Episcopal Church
On the Eighth Day of the 1970 General Convention held in Houston, Texas, the Bishop Coadjutor of New York for the Committee on Social and International Affairs introduced Resolutions that led to the formation of a National Commission on Hispanic Affairs that would evolve into the current Office of Latino/Hispanic Ministries.

All: Jesus, the Word made flesh, dwelling among us.
One: We meet with different joys and sorrows, different hopes and fears….
Everyone: different people, different lives, different stories,
One/One: However, one people with one God, one faith, one baptism.
All: Let us open ourselves to the presence of God working in us, among us, and through us.
