The diocesan Department of Communications strives to connect individuals to the life and activates of the diocese, to communicate essential information for full engagement with diocesan ministries, and to provide support to diocesan ministries and congregational communications.
Happenings are spiritual renewal weekends for older high school students, led by their peers. Any student in the 10th grade through 12th grade can attend. A small number of adults may also attend. Weekends tend to fill quickly, so don't delay! You will receive detailed information about the weekend via email after you register. Each Happening begins Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. sharp, and wraps up around 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. It is a lock-in, so prepare to stay the entire weekend.
Registration for first-time Happeners will be limited. A waiting list will be closely monitored, as usual, to make sure that if anyone becomes unable to attend the next person in line is invited to register.
The registration cost is $60, and a deposit must be paid to confirm your registration. Scholarships are available.
Please email the Happening Advisory Board Chair, at dwtxhappening@gmail.com, for scholarship information or other questions.
Visit dwtx.org/events for more information.

The 2026 Lenten Podcast: Let Love be Genuine will be a series of five short conversations between Suzanna Green, Director of Christian Formation, and various diocesan staff including Bishop Read. Each episode will discuss the theme of Let Love be Genuine and one verse from Romans 12:9-13. There will also be a Spanish version of this podcast hosted by Flor Saldivar, Director of Latino+Immigration Ministries. The Spanish episodes will follow the same format and will be conversations between Flor and some of our diocesan staff including Bishop Cortiñas.
Each podcast episode will be no longer than 20 minutes and will include a transcript and discussion guide suited for youth and adult Sunday School and Bible Study groups. While this series is premiering in the season of Lent, it can be used as a 5-week study at any time of year. If you have any questions about the series please reach out to Suzanna Green, Director of Christian Formation at formation@dwtx.org.
