The Diocesan Nominating Committee Seeks Clergy and Lay Nominees for 2026 Election
Elected Offices to be Filled at the 122nd Council
Nominations open October 1 through November 3, 2025
Greetings Diocese of West Texas,
In Kathleen A. Cahalan’s book, The Stories We Live, she writes that it is prepositions, the smallest words of our vocabulary, that carry the richest meaning in the relationship between our callings and God’s purposes. She writes that we were created not with or for one vocation, but with the capacity for multiple vocations, priest, mother, father, daughter, son, teacher, banker, plumber, Lector, Senior Warden, and so on. The pattern of the prepositions goes like this: I am called, by God, to follow, as I am, from grief, for service, in suffering, through others, within God.
As we enter this season of nominations for elected offices in the Diocese of West Texas, we hope you and your congregations will prayerfully discern where God is calling you. What are you being called away from, so that you can be called to? Do you feel insecure in your abilities and gifts, or are you ready to accept that God is calling you as you are? Who in your congregation is being called for service through our siblings in Christ this season?
With these good and hard questions in mind, the Nominating Committee invites you to put your name forward and encourage others to nominate themselves for the various open offices to be filled at our Diocesan Council in Corpus Christi this February. Nominees do not have to be present at Council to be elected.
One important gift and honor of the work of the Nominating Committee is striving to ensure that the diversity of our diocese is represented within the nomination forms. Therefore, we encourage nominees of all backgrounds, ages (18yrs+), and first-time nominees to prayerfully consider putting their names forward.
