Regarding Transitions: Staffing Changes in Communications Office

The Director for Communications of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas, Laura K. McGrew, has announced to the Rt. Rev. David M. Reed, Bishop of West Texas, the Rt. Rev. Dr. David G. Read, Bishop Coadjutor, and other colleagues that she will leave her position at the diocese this fall.

Laura, her husband, Steve, and their young son, Arthur are relocating to Coppell, Texas where Steve has accepted a new position as the Director of Bands at Coppell Middle School - East. The move brings their family much closer to Laura's parents, who are overjoyed to take a more active role in their grandson's life. Though she moved earlier this summer, Laura will continue to serve as Director remotely until the end of September.

Bishop Reed said, “While I’m very sorry to lose Laura as a member of the diocesan staff, it is a wonderful move for her and her family, and we can only rejoice with them. For nine years, she has been a tremendous support to diocesan ministries, to the churches of West Texas, and to me personally. Her skills as a writer and editor (and her love for good grammar and appropriate punctuation) have been a gift to all of us. She has been a blessing to the Diocese, and I pray she, Steve and Arthur continue to be blessed in this new season.”

Laura joined the diocesan staff in July 2014, serving in the Camps & Conferences Department before joining the Communications team in 2019, and she has experienced many personal and professional changes while serving the diocese.

"Through every change," Laura shared, "it has been a joy to celebrate life's blessings, and face the lessons that times of change impart, alongside the diocesan and camp staff, clergy, church staff, and our many diocesan committee members and volunteers. I will miss you all dearly. There truly is 'a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,' and I cannot wait to see how the Spirit leads the people of West Texas into this new season of its ongoing ministry. 'Para el que cree, todo es posible.' 'Everything is possible for one who believes.'" (Mark 9:23, diocesan motto).

More information about the diocesan Communications Office job opportunity will be published next week. Questions regarding this transition may be directed to Canon Caroline Mowen at caroline.mowen@dwtx.org. Inquiries regarding diocesan or congregational communications may be sent to communications@dwtx.org.
