Holy Week Resources
The Diocese of West Texas Christian Formation department has several resources to help families and individuals experience Holy Week. These resources include both take-home or do-at-home activities and church events so there is something that fits every church community. Here are two resources we want to highlight:
In 2023 Tamara Talasek, Director of Families at Church of Reconciliation created Holy Week boxes for families to use at home together throughout that special week and she continues to use these each year. Before the start of Holy Week, each child receives a box with several tactile materials to use throughout the week. Children also get to customize their boxes during Sunday school on Palm Sunday before taking them home. The boxes start with an activity for Palm Sunday and end with Easter Sunday. There are activities for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday included in the box.
In 2025 Tamara created a “Tie-Dye Triduum” liturgy that was used at Reconciliation on the Wednesday of Holy Week. Each part of the tie-dye process was associated with a specific week of Lent or day of Holy Week. The liturgy was added to Reconciliation’s Wednesday evening meal and included a full eucharist.
