The Wisdom Years: Epiphany, The Lighted Path
The shepherds have gone back to their fields, the angels have retreated to the depths of heaven, the inns are no longer full. We mortals have taken down our Christmas decorations, packed them into their boxes, and returned them to their appointed nook in the closet.
With a sigh we tuck this Christmas season into our memories.
But wait: nothing is ended; everything has uproariously begun.
The Magi, great astrologers from the East, knew the miraculous birth was only the beginning. They intuited that the new star which appeared in the heavens was the opening of a path to something beyond wonder. And they followed, not knowing what would await them. (see Matthew 2:1-12)
We, too, are invited to follow unquestioningly and courageously. God will set a light before us to lead us to a new kind of birth, and we will go home a different way.
Join The Wisdom Years for a 3-week exploration of the Epiphany light that beckons us to seek the path God intends for each of us to follow.
Each week - January 8, 15, and 22 - you will receive an email with a link to our web page that includes:
- An introduction to the week’s theme
- Readings and poetry for reflection
- A practice for the week
- An invitation to gather by Zoom on Thursday, January 11, 18, and 25, at 4 p.m. (Central time). Our gathering lasts about an hour.
To receive the weekly email, send an email note to Marjorie George at [email protected].
The Zoom link will be sent each Wednesday, the day before the Thursday Zoom gathering.
If you are unable to join the Zoom gatherings, you are welcome to use the material on your own. Comments will be welcome on the web page.
We would be delighted to share your journey, your reflections, your thoughts and wonderings as we travel the Epiphany path together.
The Wisdom Years is committed to connection and companionship for our spiritual journeys during the elder years of our lives.
