The Diocesan Nominating Committee Seeks Clergy and Lay Nominees for 2025 Election

The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas will conduct its 121st Diocesan Council in San Marcos, Texas on February 20-22, 2025. This letter is being sent to everyone across our beloved diocese to ask for your aid in encouraging those whose passions bring purpose to serve our Lord as one of the elective positions that will be filled at Council. Nominations and elections are important in so many ways and we understand that placing your name on the ballot is a leap of faith. Please think and pray for your willingness to serve the diocese. Nominations open on October 1 and close on November 1, 2024.

Step 1.
Clergy and laypersons are invited to submit applications for positions to be filled. The Nomination Committee will also partner with rectors and laypersons to recruit individuals. The positions to be filled and descriptions for each committee or board may be found here.

Step 2.
Completed nomination forms are due to the Diocesan Office no later than November 1, 2024.

(a) Online: We encourage nominations to be submitted through the online form.

(b) Fillable PDF, via Email: Forms may also be completed in PDF format and submitted via email to [email protected], as an attachment.

(c) Printed and Mailed: If necessary, the form may also be printed, completed by hand, and mailed to the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas: Attn. Leigh Saunders, PO Box 6885, San Antonio, Texas 78209. The form must be received by November 1, 2024.

Step 3.
The Nominating Committee will meet to review the nomination forms. And by way of that review the slates for the various positions to be filled will be established for ultimate consideration at the elections held at the 121st Diocesan Council in February 2025.

Step 4.
Elections held at the 121st Diocesan Council in February 2025

All positions to be filled require three nominees per open position. Without representation from across the diocese, our impact to address change and provide solutions is limited. Lastly, please remember that nominees must be at least eighteen years of age and resident in the Diocese of West Texas. Nominees are not required to attend Diocesan Council in order to be considered.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration in sharing the leadership of our diocese.

Respectfully:

The Rev. Susan Burnham
Nominating Committee Co-Chair
