The World Missions Department seeks to share the Good News by building relationships and sustainable global partnerships and works with various partners around the world to help educate and keep people healthy while spreading the love of Jesus.
At Council 2026, the Rt. Rev. Dr. David G. Read, D.D., Bishop of West Texas, provided an update on the work and outreach being done through various missions and ministries that are supported by the diocese. He announced the publication of a new World Missions Catalog of Opportunities, created to raise awareness amongst congregations as they seek mission volunteer and giving opportunities. The catalog features ministry partners including:
Band & Bible Ministry
A scholarship mission that supports the brass band ministry in three Ugandan dioceses.
Cheyenne River Episcopal Mission
An Episcopal Mission home to ten churches in central South Dakota, as well as an equine ministry on the Black Horse Ranch in Eagle Butte.
Love Honduras
A ministry in Honduras that works to provide veterinary services, vision screenings, and public health initiatives.
Love for the Least
A ministry that works with refugees, widows, and orphans in the Middle East and East Africa.
Manos de Dios
A Honduran ministry that works to provide scholarships for children from 7th grade – college, as well as micro-enterprise, community outreach, and spiritual development projects.
The Owen Project
A computer ministry that provides computers and internet access in the Episcopal Diocese of Najavoland.
Texas Water Mission
A ministry that provides clean water solutions in Honduras and the Episcopal Diocese of Najavoland.
Threads of Blessing
A ministry that teaches embroidery and design techniques, as well as marketability of items to women in Uganda.
Ugandan Scholarships
The Episcopal Diocese of West Texas helps to provide scholarships for merit scholars and clergy children in Uganda.
