Clergy Children's College Fund

The Clergy Children's College Fund Scholarship announcement for the 2026-2027 academic year is open for submissions. Deadline is Saturday, August 15, 2026.

All college-age children of active, retired, or non-parochial clergy who live within the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas are eligible for a scholarship from The Clergy Children’s College Fund to attend institutions of higher learning at either the undergraduate or graduate level.  These scholarships are offered to college-age children of active, retired, or non-parochial clergy in the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. Children may include biological children, stepchildren, and adopted children, regardless of residential arrangements. Scholarships are restricted to full-time students (12 semester hours or more) for a maximum of eight semesters. Awards are made in equal amounts to all qualified applicants.  

This gift is made available through the generosity of the Rev. Gary Gooch and his wife Mrs. Donnelle Gooch. The endowment scholarship fund was established in 2000 and is held with the Episcopal Church Foundation in West Texas.

To be considered for a scholarship, applicants are required to submit:

1. Completed application form.
2. A letter of recommendation from an adult who is not a relative. The letter should reflect knowledge of the applicant’s character and academic goals.
3. A copy of the last transcript / grades.
4. An updated resume, listing community involvement and volunteer events, work experience, and honors/awards.
5. A personal letter addressed to the Scholarship Committee detailing experiences and future goals, along with a description of your current mentor sharing why this person is your mentor.

Douglass Scholarship

2026-2027 Application deadline: June 15, 2026

‍Through the generosity of the Douglass Foundation, scholarships are offered to qualified seminarians and other graduate- level students. The purpose of the Douglass Foundation Scholarship Program is to encourage qualified college graduates to seek advanced degrees in the fields of theology, business, and psychology. The Scholarship Committee at the Bishop Jones Center administers the Douglass Scholarship Program on behalf of the Douglass Foundation. These scholarships are granted annually, and applicants must reapply.

Applicants must be an active member of an Episcopal church in the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas, be accepted in a program of graduate study, show evidence of potential for excellence, be of high moral character, and demonstrate evidence of financial need and merit.‍

The first Douglass Scholarships were administered by the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas in 2001, and since then, the Douglass Foundation has awarded $1,065,032 to 61 recipients!

Applications are reviewed by the Douglass Scholarship Committee composed of past Douglass Scholarship recipients, clergy, and lay from the Diocese of West Texas.

The Episcopal Church awards scholarships for educational purposes to a variety of constituents within the broader Episcopal community. The scholarships are derived from annual income of designated trust funds established by generous donors through bequests to The Episcopal Church. A number of these scholarships support students enrolled in theological education and training. Scholarships are available for educational training for ethnic communities, children of missionaries, bishops and clergy, and other groups, covering a wide range of eligibility. Beca Douglass

Camp Capers, el centro de conferencias de Mustang Island y Duncan Park en Colorado son lugares maravillosos que cambian la vida para aprender, profundizar y experimentar el amor de Dios. El Fondo de Becas de campamento se recauda a través de varios donantes y esfuerzos de recaudación de fondos y brinda a las familias que necesitan asistencia financiera la oportunidad de disfrutar de los programas de campamento de la Diócesis del Oeste de Texas. Está diseñado para pagar aproximadamente un tercio de la matrícula del beneficiario, con la expectativa de que la iglesia de origen del campista pague otro tercio y la familia pague el resto. Las excepciones basadas en las dificultades económicas se considerarán caso por caso. Las inscripciones de los campistas deben completarse y confirmarse antes de que se pueda procesar una beca.
