Safeguarding God's Children Policy Update - Episcopal Schools
Effective August 1, 2020, any person who needs to take a Safeguarding God's Children class in order to work or volunteer with children and youth in the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas, including church, school, and ministry employees and volunteers, will be required to
- complete three online Safeguarding God's Children modules,
- pass the test included at the end of each one, and
- attend a presentation via Zoom, that will review the newly updated diocesan Handbook.
In order to explain the new process for online Safeguarding and the updated diocesan policies for Episcopal Schools and Safeguarding, Stacy Dowdy will host another Safeguarding God's Children Policy Update for Heads of School via Zoom on Wednesday, August 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Individuals who attended one of the previous New Safeguarding Policy Update sessions in August do not need to attend again, since the material presented will be the same. Any school that has not yet had a staff member attend a Safeguarding Policy Update is encouraged to send a representative to the August 26th presentation.
The updated Handbook for Those Work with Children and Youth is available on the Safeguarding God's Children & People webpage. Please contact Melissa Soderberg, Executive Assistant to the Bishop's Office, at email@example.com, with questions.
