Camp Capers Creation Care Family Retreat

Have you ever wondered what kind of fish swim in the Guadalupe River, how to plan a backyard garden, and create your own compost system? Did you know that we are all called as children of God to be stewards of creation?

Spend a weekend at Camp Capers, exploring what creation care means for us and our families, while experiencing the natural beauty of this place and brainstorming ways to take action to protect our wildscapes at home and in our communities. Parents, if your children are studying environmental sciences in school, what a great opportunity for them to learn hands-on and make connections between textbook vocabulary terms and the wonders of the natural world.

Camp Capers staff will facilitate Creation Care or environmental education activities such as Entomology (the study of bugs!), Forestry, Limnology (the study of bodies of water!), Gardening, Orienteering (how not to get lost in the woods!), Outdoor Living Skills and many more! Other Camp Capers activities include river fishing, swimming in the pool, climbing the Rockwall, riding the Giant Swing, kayaking or tubing, Arts & Crafts, picnics, and more.

We’ll take care of the cooking and clean up, while your family gets to choose their own adventure. So, pack your bags and head to Camp CapersCreation Care Family Retreat!

Each day will conclude with an end-of-day prayer service called Compline and optional evening activity like Lawn Games, Bring-Your-Own-Board-Game Hour, Campfire and S’mores, HumanClue, and more.

Staying safe and healthy is our #1 goal. Families will sign up for activities ahead of time, and receive your own specialized schedule, reserving activities for one family at a time to enjoy. Don’t forget to bring your masks and any board games or cards you may want to play while at Camp Capers! Need to stay connected? Wireless internet hotspots are available around camp, to allow guests to "work from camp."

Throughout the retreat, comprehensive health and safety guidelines will be in place to protect our guests and camp staff. Wearing fabric masks will be required inside all buildings (except family's accommodations), only members of the same household will share lodging, physical distancing will be observed, as well as proper hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and sanitization of shared spaces.
