Father's Day offering for Habitat for Humanity

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 17, 2018, and we once again invite your church to consider a special Father’s Day offering for the Diocese of West Texas Habitat for Humanity fund.

fathers-day-hands_17339cp-2.jpgThe Habitat Builders for West Texas remain committed to the work of organizing Habitat for Humanity home builds around the diocese and coordinating congregational participation. A number of parishes and missions also remain active in supporting Habitat for Humanity builds in their own communities. As the slogan says, Habitat for Humanity offers a hand up not a hand out. It is with great joy that families receive the keys to their new homes, built with their own sweat equity and the hands of many volunteers who graciously donate their time, skills, and effort.

Recently, Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio assembled an online resource folder for our churches to access, full of materials to promote and manage Habitat builds in their communities. Included in these resources are Father’s Day Offering bulletin inserts, which can be used leading up to Father’s Day and on the given Sunday. The inserts can be customized with your church’s and community’s name.

Also included are various fundraising ideas and the needed documents to use, prayers and prayer lists for the volunteers of a Habitat build, and other bulletin inserts for other fundraising campaigns.

You can access the “Habitat Episcopal Action Folder" on the Habitat page of the diocesan website at:

We know that you have many requests for financial support, and we are grateful for your consideration of this special offering, which is one of three annual diocesan wide appeals  Also, please keep in mind that in lieu of (or in addition to) a Sunday offering, churches (and individuals) are always welcome to join the "Carpenter's Club" for $300 per year.

Consider honoring fathers and the special men in your lives with a gift to the fund on Sunday, June 17. This is a great way to remember fathers and an easy way to support all the great work of Habitat for Humanity.

Please send your support to the Diocese of West Texas, PO Box 6885, San Antonio, TX 78209.  Also, please note in the memo section of your check either "Habitat" or "Carpenter's Club." You can also donate online at www.dwtx.org/habitat.

Grace to you and peace as this summer season begins, and thank you for your contributions.

Bishops Reed and Brooke-Davidson
