College Missions

There are over 300,000 college students that attend school within the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas! Vital University Missions is a ministry of DWTX that is called and sent to serve these students, right in our own backyard.

Since 2007, we have grown from a presence on one campus with four students and one part-time missioner to six campuses with over 250 students and 4 full-time staff members. The faithfulness of God is abundant, and our hope is that we remain faithful to where and how God is calling us to go out and grow.

It is amazing what happens when college students gather to ask honest questions of scripture, earnestly follow Jesus, and share life with each other. We hope you will join us to further this vision of God’s kingdom breaking through on college campuses.

All of our programs are open to any students from any campus (including students who attend schools outside DWTX and are home for holidays or summer break).

Vital UM has weekly worship services and/or Bible studies on the following DWTX campuses: St. Mary's University (San Antonio), University of the Incarnate Word (San Antonio), Texas State University (San Marcos), and the University of Texas in San Antonio, Brownsville, and Edinburg.

Learn more about Vital UM on our website:, by following our program pages on Facebook, or by emailing us at

If you are a college student enrolled outside DWTX or at a school without a Vital UM program yet, check out the Campus Ministries page for Episcopal ministries at your school.
