DWTX Recreational Basketball Tuesdays, December 20 - February 21, 2012 DWTX Sports Recreational Basketball returns for another season. Beginning Tuesday, December 20, games will be played each Tuesday at the St. Luke's, San Antonio, gym from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Pickup games will be played with whomever shows up, so please bring a white t-shirt and colored t-shirt to help distinguish your team. High school kids and all adults are welcome to participate. Churches, encourage your high school youth to come out and play. A medical release is required.  Craft RetreatFebruary 3-5 A Craft Retreat will be held at Camp Capers February 3-5 for ladies ages 18 and older. Led by Sue Hardaway, the weekend will be a time to create, scapbook, sew, and paint, and build ideas and friendships. Cost is $120 per person. The retreat begins with dinner Friday night at 6:30 p.m., but participants may arrive any time after 1:00 p.m. Please bring a sleeping bag, pillow, toiletries, appropriate attire, and your craft supplies. Clergy Lenten Retreat March 4-7 The annual Clergy Lenten Retreat will be held at Mustang Island Conference Center, March 4-7. Our retreat leader will be The Rev. Kathleen Russell, Associate Professor of Contextual Theology for Ministry at Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. The retreat will begin with dinner on Sunday, March 4, at 7:00 p.m. and will conclude with lunch on Wednesday, March 7. The cost is $315 for double occupancy (3 nights and 9 meals), $405 for single occupancy (if available, 3 nights and 9 meals), and $190 for days only (9 meals). Kaleidoscope of Life - Spiritual Practices March 10 The Commission for Women's Ministries will sponsor a day of workshops on spiritual practices on Saturday, March 10, at the Church of Reconciliation, San Antonio (8900 Starcrest, 78217). The day begins at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude by 2:00 p.m. Activities include a gathering, an overview presentation by the Rev. Lera Tyler, Praise through Taize led by the Rev. and Mrs. Tim Vellom, and breakout sessions: Walking the Labyrinth with Edwin Sasek, Centering Prayer with the Rev. Robert Woody, Lectio Divina with the Rev. Mary Earle, and Prayer Shawl Ministry with Merilee Buel and Susan Willcox. A light lunch and childcare for children ages 0-4 are included. Annual Altar Guild Workshop "His Table" March 25-28 The annual Altar Guild workshop is sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, and some of our diocese's Altar Guild members will attend. "His Table" will be held Sunday, March 25, through Wednesday, March 28, at Camp Allen in Navasota, Texas. Workshops will be presented on various topics, including "White Good Embroidery" and "Rope Crosses." The gathering will also feature group discussions, spiritual enrichment exercises, and comprehensive seminars. For more information and the registration form, click here.
