Nestled under cottonwoods and oaks in the swimming pool. It is surrounded by a grassy lawn and seating areas. The pool's south side opens onto the Centrum, a large covered pavilion with sports court, basketball goals and benches.
The Camp Capers Centrum is the outside covered area next to the pool. Summer camp registrations take place under the Centrum and it is usually the first place new campers see. It is a wonderful place to play basketball, sit and eat ice cream or hide from the cool summer rain.
Before there was the Camp Capers Pool, there was the river. The Guadalupe river was the first "pool" where many campers cooled off in the heat of the day.
The Camp Capers Pool was originally located in the middle of the current circle drive. If you ever swam in the original pool, you probably have fond memories of doing flips off the diving board. The pool was filled in, and was moved, redesigned and connected to the Centrum. Today's pool is not very deep and has a nice grassy area around it. However, if you attemp to sunbath watchout because you might be thrown in the pool.
