Congregational Resources

We are 30,000 persons gathered into 90 congregations, spread across 60 counties and 69,000 square miles. Our geographical boundaries are roughly Brady to the north, Victoria to the east, Brownsville to the south, and Del Rio to the west. For organizational purposes, we are arranged into seven convocations, each headed by a dean. The Congregational Resources page is a growing list of helpful documents and links for our unique churches.

Memo To:  All Clergy in the Diocese of West Texas
All Lay Employees in Congregations in the Diocese of West Texas

From:   Diocese of West Texas Insurance Committee

Dear Colleagues:

We are all aware of the changing landscape in our country regarding health care. The Medical Trust is working closely with dioceses to carefully monitor these changes and offer health insurance plans that will address the changes in health care. Also, the Diocesan Insurance Committee is hard at work determining the effects of this changing landscape on our diocesan family. In response to and in preparation for the implementation of the Denominational Health Plan (DHP), the Insurance Committee has created a survey to determine how many lay employees we currently have and identify the types of coverage for our clergy and lay throughout our congregations. To complete the survey, click on the link below which will take you to the online questionnaire.

It is very important that all paid personnel receive, complete and submit this survey as soon as possible. The Committee will meet again on October 7 and use this information in their report to the Executive Board in November as we plan for the future.

Again, please make sure that all paid employees, clergy and lay, receive a copy of this email as we move together in this time of transition in health care. If you have any questions, please contact Kirk Mason at the Bishop Jones Center. (210/888) 824-5387, ext. 109 or kirk.mason@dwtx.org .
