Hurricane Harvey recovery grant from ERD

On May 3, 2018, the Diocese of West Texas received news of a $200,000 grant from Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) to fund certain projects responding to the needs of individuals affected by Hurricane Harvey. This grant is part of our ongoing partnership with ERD, who has been on the ground helping us since Hurricane Harvey hit on August 25, 2017. We are grateful for ERD's knowledge and assistance in this recovery process and for their generosity. This new grant will assist in funding the following:

  • rainbow-web.jpgAssist with unmet needs of at least 100 vulnerable individuals affected by Hurricane Harvey;
  • Continue funding the Deputy for Disaster Recovery staff position, held by Jennifer Wickham;
  • Provide mini-grants to at least 3 organizations engaged in direct support for Harvey recovery in order to provide support for at least 60 individuals;
  • Hold at least 6 "Community Connections" events in order to connect affected individuals with other potential resources for recovery (the second is to be held this Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Trinity-by-the-Sea, Port Aransas);
  • Establish volunteer housing facilities in Corpus Christi and Victoria;
  • Provide appropriate resources and support for volunteer groups, as needed
